Although it varies a bit from project to project and artist to artist, the standard process KWiL follows when creating is picture book is:
- Manuscript acquisition and editing
- Hiring an illustrator (unless the author is also the illustrator)
- Character Study
- Sketching
- Final Line Work
- Color
- Design
- Copyediting
- Printing/Proofing
